Merel Julia

Merel Julia is a Broadway dancer turned actress turned philanthropist. She co-founded the Hispanic Foundation for the Arts in 1997 and created the Raúl Juliá Award for Excellence in his name to honor and celebrate her late husband’s contributions to Latino representation and diversity advocacy. She has continued Raúl’s legacy of sponsoring scriptwriting programs in high schools, supporting young actors, and promoting the work of Latin Americans in the arts.
